Hello and welcome back for the third anniversary edition.

Yes it’s the newsletter’s third birthday.

Three whole years of spotting the best value wines available in B.C. government liquor stores and letting you know about them. In that time the accumulated list of independently reviewed, hand picked value for money and value for pleasure wines shared in the newsletter has grown to over two hundred and fifty, chosen from over 3700 total wines generally available in B.C. liquor stores.

I have done my best to focus on finding new great value wines as well as providing helpful wine tips to make a useful guide when you are shopping for wine. You seem to agree that the newsletter has been helpful as the number of subscribers has increased by 45% over last year. So thanks to all you loyal subscribers for spreading the word!

In an ongoing effort to make the newsletter as useful and valuable to you as possible, I am considering making a change it how the monthly wine picks are organized.

Up until now, they wines have been sorted by wine style as I felt that if you don’t like the style first, you probably won’t like any wine in that style. But the idea has always been to have each newsletter help you when going to the liquor store, especially if you have downloaded the free mobile app. Using it that way means you can scroll through the monthly deals and easily find the wine you want if it’s available in your store.

But B.C. government liquor stores are organized by country so I am thinking that it might be more helpful to also have the monthly wine values organized the same way. That way if you are in the Italian section for instance, you can more easily see the Italian wine values. All the other information for the wine listing would still be present, i.e. wine style, score, review, price change and a clickable link to see which stores the wine is available in.
